Statement of Faith

Because we are a global non-profit ministry that crosses denominational lines, we strive to honor the various expressions and theologies that our Freedom Prayer family is comprised of. If we are doing our job well, you will not be able to guess what our specific church background is, in fact, our teams and leaders span just about every denomination and now span the globe in the Body of Christ. We are passionate about seeing the Church take ahold of these tools in Freedom Prayer and we are often told that they are the missing pieces that have been needed not only in prayer, but in discipleship, evangelism and overall health and ministry. Because this is our goal, to see believers walking in freedom and the consequent birth of healthy Freedom Prayer teams, we aim, similar to Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:22-23, “to become all things to all people…for the sake of the gospel, that we may share with them in its blessings.” We believe and have seen that these biblical principles are unifying and well received in a variety of churches and organizations. They are foundational to the normal Christian life.

We Believe…

  1. That the Bible is the infallible word of God, entirely trustworthy, and the ultimate authority for life and godliness.
  2. There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  3. Jesus Christ is God, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. He is both God and man, perfectly united in one person eternally.
  4. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for human sins by dying on the cross as a propitiation for our sins. In this act, he satisfied justice and brought forth salvation for all who believe in Him.
  5. He rose from the dead in his glorified body and ascended into heaven at the right hand of God the Father, mediating and making intercession for his own, until He returns again.
  6. In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling leads and guides the Christian into holiness.
  7. In dedicating ourselves to prayer and the ministry of reconciliation, to the service of our Lord, and to leading others to Him.
  8. In the Unity of the Spirit of believers, the Church and the Body of Christ, locally, nationally and globally.

Regarding Sin

We are often asked about our stance on sin and our theological response to it. We believe the Word of God and in the existence of original sin, found in the garden with Adam and that we are no different from him in that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23).

We believe that scripture is clear with specific steps to deal with sin to receive freedom and healing, such as confession and repentance. In Freedom Prayer times, we are committed to those steps as well as appropriating the truth that our “old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin, because anyone who has died has been freed from sin” (Rom. 6:6-7). Walking in the light in fellowship with one another is a hallmark in Freedom Prayer and we are committed to leading individuals to the Living Water to not only be clean but allow the Lord in His grace to reveal the root causes and beliefs that make the sin enticing. We aim to draw people to freedom and find liberty from the sins that keep them in bondage, claiming their true identity as sons and daughters of God.

Regarding Suffering

We believe in the Sovereignty of God. We also believe that in God’s Sovereignty, He gave the enemy limited power for a limited amount of time. We believe that we live and exist in that divine tension, post fall and in a spiritual battle. We believe that in God’s Sovereignty, the battle belongs to Him and that He is ultimately victorious. We know that in times of suffering or hardship, the enemy desires to not only kill, steal and destroy, but ultimately separate us from God. In Freedom Prayer times, our goal is not to determine responsibility or origin of the suffering because there is much we do not know or understand in the unseen. While we can often attribute things by definition and resulting fruit, we do know that God’s ways are higher and that the enemy prowls around to destroy. We can rest there and still help individuals return to the goodness of God and His nearness in the middle of suffering and pain. We can help to clear the path of strongholds in order for easier access to His truths even when the sorrow threatens to overtake them. We believe in the crucial biblical principle of bearing well with people in their grief and the reality of their situation, while interceding for the presence of God and His goodness, no matter the outcome or consequences.
